Challen have a long respected history of piano manufacture, first established on 1804 they were the UK’s most prolific baby grand manufacturer. Due to their success they were then taken over by Barratt & Robinson in 1971 and again by Broadwood & Sons in 1984. A Malaysian piano manufacturer started building pianos with the Challen name in 1996.

Challen pianos have a reputation for being medium-high quality instruments with a warm, rich sound at an affordable price. They are often used by professional musicians and in music education settings.
