This rare 1970 Petrof 9ft 2 Concert Grand is an exceptional instrument, built in Czechoslovakia during a period when Petrof was producing some of its finest pianos for conservatories, concert venues and professional musicians across Europe.
Finished in elegant gloss black, this full-size concert grand offers both an impressive visual presence and a rich, expressive tone. Featuring an extended 92-note keyboard, it is an uncommon example of Petrof’s craftsmanship and a piano that is rarely found on today’s market.
One of the interesting details surrounding these early Petrof concert grands is the cast iron frame. It is widely believed by technicians and collectors that the plates for these pianos were produced by the same Austrian foundry that also cast frames for Bösendorfer during this period. While this has never been officially confirmed by either manufacturer, it reflects the high regard these instruments have earned among those familiar with European piano building.
The sound is warm, full-bodied and beautifully balanced, with a powerful bass, singing middle register and clear treble. Its responsive touch and wide dynamic range make it equally at home in a concert setting, recording studio or the home of a serious pianist.

Founded in 1864, Petrof is one of Europe’s oldest piano manufacturers, renowned for producing instruments with a distinctive warm, lyrical character. This concert grand is a wonderful example of that tradition and offers something genuinely different from the brighter tone often associated with many modern pianos.
Carefully prepared in our workshop, this piano has been tuned, regulated and is ready to be enjoyed by its next owner.
